Activity/Event Information

To Rocky Mountain SABR members,

We wanted to get the word out to the membership that details of our Saturday, August 20th, 2016 chapter meeting have been set.

The main feature of the day will be the re-scheduled State-of-the-Rockies address by Colorado Rockies General Manager Jeff Bridich. Jeff will begin his remarks in the

12:30 - 12:45 PM range.

Following Mr. Bridich's address, we will be conducting our annual Trivia Tournament. No need to sign up for this; just bring your baseball brain with you and be ready to compete!

We anticipate finishing our program by 2:30 PM. Admission is free and open to all.

We will be gathering in a brand new venue for us, the historic Oxford Hotel at 17th and Wazee Streets, a block up from Union Station. The meeting will take place in the dining room of the McCormack Fish House. The room is available to SABR beginning at 11:00 AM. Feel free to come early and mingle in an atmosphere of warm baseball camaraderie. Lunch will be available to order a la carte beginning at 11:30 AM, and we would like to be completed with lunch when our program starts at 12:30 PM. We encourage you to order a meal as the Oxford Hotel has graciously waved their room fees for us and we should support them to build a relationship.

It would be great to get an idea of the approximate attendance, so if you would be so kind as to shoot me an email (paul.parker@rockies.com), phone message (303-312-2211) or note in the mail if you are planning to come, I'd appreciate it.

Regards in Baseball,

Paul Parker, President Rocky Mountain chapter SABR

ROCKY MOUNTAIN SABR CHAPTER MEETING AND RESEARCH PRESENTATIONS SATURDAY, JUNE 25TH, 2016

What:    June chapter meeting of Rocky Mountain SABR

When:   Saturday, June 25, 2016, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This is an unusual evening chapter meeting, and we decided to do this when the Rockies game was moved from a night game to a day game. Rockies and Diamondbacks first pitch is 2:10 pm.

Where:  The back room of the Breckenridge Brewery, 2220 Blake Street, Denver, just about catty corner across from Gate B of Coors Field.

Be sure to join us for our next Rocky Mountain SABR chapter meeting, when we will emphasize the R in SABR. That’s Research, and we will have two fine presentations that evening.

The first one will be by Alex Hinz, a recent graduate of the University of Denver Law School. Alex’s presentation will focus on Baseball’s arbitration process. Should be very timely and thought-provoking. Then we will welcome Paul Goodson, Legislative & Research Librarian at the Wyoming State Library. Paul will take us back in time to professional baseball in the Cowboy State, for an examination of the 1941 Cheyenne Indians. Paul has made this presentation once before, and Wyoming PBS was granted permission to record it.

You won’t want to miss a fine evening of baseball research. Admission is free and open to all. Dinner will be available to order at your request.

If you would like to attend the afternoon game with us, tickets are $25 and can be reserved by contacting Paul Parker at paul.parker@rockies.com on or before June 22.
