Indians 12, Yankees 5
JD, Lebeau and I leave Syracuse at midnight to drive to Coz’s parents house in Wantagh on Long Island. We meet Marc’s parents and Joan Stack who worked at the National Hemophilia Foundation. She was the one that contacted MLB about our trip and informed them of our schedule.
We set out for Yankee Stadium with high hopes. When we arrived we went to the ticket off. Marc tried valiantly to have the Yankees recognize our odyssey, but alas, no tickets were forthcoming. We purchased our tickets.
The visiting Cleveland Indians rocked Yankee starter , Rudy May, for 6 runs in the first, enroute to a 12-5 thrashing. Future Cy Young award winner, John Denny, hurls a complete game for the tribe. Announced attendance was 53,874(which might have contributed to our cold reception from the front office.).
After a few lagers at a local establishment, we headed back to Wantagh. Coz’s dad filled in the Yankee box on the Babe.
